Current Characters: Stanley is my first!
Character: Stanley, no known last name
Fandom: A Troll In Central Park (Also known as Stanley's Magic Garden)
History: Troll Kingdom is a nasty place. Take the worst parts of the villains of preschool and most eighties cartoons and you have Troll Kingdom, and Gnorga, it's ruler and self-proclaimed "Queen of Mean", likes it that way. Nice things such as flowers are outlawed and criminals are typically punished by being turned to stone.
Stanley, courtesy of his Green Thumb, is able to grow just about any kind of plant he wants, but he chooses to create flowers simply because he really likes them. Needless to say, he has to hide his illicit activities from literally every other troll in the kingdom. At the beginning of the movie, however, he makes a rather bad decision related to gardening that exposes his flower-growing to everyone.
The only reason he didn't get petrified is because Llort, Gnorga's husband and a Minion with an F in Evil, suggests a worse fate for Stanley: being exiled to Central Park, New York City! And at first, the shenanigans that ensue makes Stanley believe Llort, but when he meets the toddler Rosie and later her older brother Gus, he begins to accept his new home, to the chagrin of Gnorga.
After first trying to drown Stanley in a flood, Gnorga decides to head to Central Park herself to finish the job (completely trashing it in the process) . She kidnaps Rosie and turns Gus into a troll, and Stanley? He hides, because a small child has more spine than he does. Only when he finds his courage does he manage to rescue Rosie and Gus, and seal Gnorga's fate of becoming a bush of posies. And it's a good thing the Green Thumb can be taught, for it both resists and reverses petrification - before Gnorga succumbs to flowerdom she compels Gus into stoning Stanley.
This Stanley is taken post-movie, about four days after he is revived by Gus.
Personality: Stanley is mostly everything the Bad Trolls are not: kind, caring, friendly, jolly, and sociable. He really likes to meet people and make friends, and he doesn't let the fact that he isn't a native of the human world get in the way of that.
He is also a big dreamer. He adores pretty things, and wants everyone to live in peace and harmony. In fact, his big dream is to gather up all of the Good Trolls (yes, he isn't the only one) and dwell in their own kingdom, playing under clear blue skies, wisely using their Green Thumbs and generally chilling out. He won't shy away from the dreams of others, either; he will tell you to go after your dreams.
Unfortunately for Stanley, he is also a coward and creatively stunted. He doesn't make anywhere near full use of his Green Thumb, even when his life is at stake, and his first reaction to actual danger is to run away until he is not in danger. This served him well until Gnorga arrives, a threat who is persistent and will not just go away on her own. Despite this, Stanley IS capable of standing up for himself and others and being heroic - you just have to coax it out of him.
Other: Aside from being a midget with a tail, Stanley has the Green Thumb, a very potent magical ability that lets him create dream worlds, be an at-will Stone to Flesh spell, and when it touches something, brings into being almost any kind of plant the user can think of. If Stanley had more imagination, he would fare better against his challenges, but he doesn't. He also likes flowers to the point where the only nonflower he grows in the movie is a patch of grass.

First Person: [The scene opens up to a park swathed in flowers]
I wonder when Gus will come over again today. I want to see what he wants to do with his Green Thumb! Hee, I'm glad that humans are able to have Green Thumbs, it means that they have hopes and dreams, too.
Come to think of it, Good Trolls and humans have quite a bit in common, don't they? I often see the human famlies come here to play and admire all the beautiful flowers that I made. They are even quite nice to me and my flower friends, although I wonder why some of them keep sneezing.
Oh well. Gnorga, scary as she is, has been, I think, sent back to Troll Kingdom and she hasn't come back here since. Also I still have to think of a way to meet the other Good Trolls. But for now, let's see how Gus and Rosie are. They sure have been visting me a lot lately, and I like to see them!
Third Person: It was nighttime in Central Park, and far from the usual hustle and bustle of the (now slathered in greenery) Big Apple, animals and plants are able to live and relax here. The flowers that walked and talked especially liked the park, not only because it was away from all of the people and buildings, but because Central Park was the de facto home of Stanley after he was banished from Troll Kingdom. Not that Stanley could complain, he liked being in nature and with said animals and plants. It reminded him that yes, there are better places to be than the miserable place he grew up in.
In Central Park, Stanley could be himself. He could grow flowers and talk to people and animals without fear of being hauled off and made a statue. That fact that he only discovered that shortly after Gnorga's defeat didn't faze him in the slightest. It helped that Stanley was a great person to be around, not only because he made the flowers, but even at the best of times he needed a little help when he got into trouble.
Such as now.
"AARRRGGHH!"
While gazing at the stars, Stanley accidentally stepped on a stray cat. While he was still living in Troll Kingdom Stanley was able to cover up his illegal gardening by cooping his flowers within his house, and when he had to leave his house for anything he would stealth past both mean animals and the Bad Trolls, who weren't the sharpest knives in the drawer but were still as dangerous as any of them. Stanley really didn't want to take any chances back then. But since this is Central Park, where bunnies and squirrels and birds and turtles lived, Stanley felt little need to hide.
And he was pretty good at hiding! But when the cover is blown and it was time for action, well, Stanley wasn't so great at that. Which is why he was now being clawed by an irate and surprised feline.
While Stanley flailed and danced about, trying to get his frenzied ball of fur off of him, some pansies immediately rushed up and started to yank the cat off of Stanley. The cat held on for several seconds before it relented and dashed off, leaving a shaken and scratched Stanley.

"Stanley, you really should keep a better eye on things. Even in the human world there is danger."
Stanley sighed. He had to admit, the sunflower had a point. There were those wagons that pulled themselves, and while the buildings might be fun to climb on they were really really high. The dangers here were different from Troll Kingdom but no less scary.
"I realize that. But you know what? I wouldn't move back there. Most of the humans are better people than most trolls I've met."
And so it was that Stanley was able to sleep in peace that night, away from prying eyes and noses.
